Drawing styling cues from the liter class machine, the 2014 CBR300R offers more than upgraded looks to lure in new riders in search of superbike glory.
Honda revised the 6-speed gearing, with the last one now longer and thus making high-speed highway runs a lot easier and funnier. The 286cc single-cylinder was obtained by stroking out the one in the quarter-liter machine and the result is better acceleration and less vibrations.
The new mill produces a very usable 30 horsepower and 20 ft-lbs (27.1 Nm) which should work just fine with the sport-tuned chassis. As Honda mentions that the CBR250R will be phased out, it looks like the new 300R will be replacing the quarter-liter bike in all markets.
Add in an oversized exhaust in the vein of that on the CBR500R for premium looks and a throaty, pleasant sound. No pricing or availability announced yet, but we know the bike will also be offered with optional ABS.
